A mechanism to produce the predicted outcomes to compare with the actual outcomes of the software under test. (after Adrion)
Any (often automated) means that provides information about the (correct) expected behavior of a component (HOWD86). Without qualification, this term is often used synonymously with input/outcome oracle.
